I’m super pale. I have freckles. I just don’t get tan. Will it turn me orange?

Definitely not! Even the fairest of fair will enjoy the deep and yet natural looking golden-brown tan you will get that would take hours/weeks to develop under the sun, and without sunburn, sun damage, freckling or the tell-tale signs of dry skin and wrinkles that come with tanning. Your treatment also includes a fruit enzyme exfoliation, which helps to prep your skin as the enzymes work like a pac-man to ‘eat away’ all the dead skin on the surface, which ensures your tan will be completely even and a warm, toasty brown shade.

Do I get into a booth? Is it automated? 
Nope–this is absolutely a custom treatment. When you step into our tent, we hand-spray your tan on using our state-of-the-art system. No two spray tans are ever alike, as every treatment is designed to suit the individual’s unique body structure so you get the most even, natural-looking tan possible.

How long does it take to dry?

Drying is also included in the treatment! Although the solution must be refrigerated as it is organic and preservative free, the air from the machine is warm.

Why organic?

Our skin is the body’s largest organ.  Everything we put on our skin gets absorbed into the body within 90 seconds. Why slather harmful chemicals containing carcinogenic chemicals onto your skin? For that matter, there are so many self-tanners on the market (which stink, turn orange and take forever to dry) so why would you spend your hard-earned money and valuable time on anything but the purest option available to you? We at 86 Soleil believe the healthy alternative to conventional tanning should be just that—healthy.

So, it’s mobile, and you come to me. How much space do I need?

Any bedroom or large bathroom will do. The only space needed is a 7’ tall ceiling for the tent and an area about the size of a shoebox for the small machine. We tan clients who live in trailers, studio apartments and college dorm rooms. It’s better to have a door that closes, if only for your privacy from the rest of the house. We also need an outlet nearby the area to plug in the machine.

How loud is it?

Only as loud as a hairdryer, and it’s only turned on for about 10 minutes, tops.

What do I wear?

This is entirely up to you. You may choose to wear either a strapless bra, and underwear or both, or neither (18+ only). It all depends on how you would like your ‘tan lines’ to appear. Your service will always be administered by a professional and NC Licensed Esthetician (Caley, the owner, and her sister, Kirsten are both Licensed.)

Will it be messy?

Nope. We provide a black sheet for you to stand on inside the tent, and all the spraying goes on inside this area so there will not be any cleanup for you at all. If in the event solution were to get on your sheets, clothes, carpet, etc, the solution is completely water-soluble and washes right out in the wash or with a damp cloth.

I have prom, wedding, a beach trip coming up. How soon before should I get my tan?

12 hours to be safe or the night before. For best results, you don’t want to shower/get wet for 4-6 hours while your tan is developing (the tan you see at first, is the result of a bronzer, which contains DHA, a harmless chemical derived from sugarcane and beets. After 4-6 hours, your natural tan develops, and the bronzer is simply rinsed away with your first shower.)

How long does it last?

All self-tanners are designed to penetrate to the epidermis, which is the top most cells of your skin, which then slough off in about 5-10 days time. The tan won’t completely go away until about 2 weeks. You will get the most out of your tan if you use a moisturizer with sunscreen in the morning (as our solution does not contain SPF) and a tan extending lotion for a subtle kick to your already deep tan.

What will it look like when it fades?

Your tan will fade gradually as the days go on. If for some reason your tan is super concentrated in one area, you can always take a little scrub in the shower, and even things out quickly. It’s a huge improvement from the tell-tale orange streaks and brassy palms from your tan in the can days!

How much does it cost?

For new clients, it’s $35.  The normal price of a full body organic spray tan (including delivery of course, as we come to you!) is $45. We offer group/hostess discounts where if you bring 3 friends over to your house who all tan, the hostess gets her tan free. The more people who tan, the cheaper it will be for each person. We also have an awesome referral program: refer 3 friends (have them mention your name when they call to make their appointment) and get your next tan 1/2 off! ($22.50). Refer 5 friends and get your next tan free! We know how a girl loves a bargain, don’t we?

How do I make an appointment?

Just call your friendly Esthetician. Caley, at 919-208-3821 and be sure to let her know who referred you, your address and method of payment. If you’d like to pay by credit card, we’ll secure your payment before your appointment by getting your email and sending you an invoice that you’ll then pay online before or at your appointment.
